A 41-year-old man will appear at Staines Magistrates’ Court on Monday charged with killing 39-year-old Aliny Mendes.

A man has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a 39-year-old mother in Ewell, Surrey.

Aliny Mendes was on a road near the junction of Sparrow Farm Road and London Road on Friday afternoon when a man got out of a car and stabbed her, police said. She died at the scene.

Ricardo Godinho, 41, of Kingston Road, Epsom, was charged on Sunday with killing Ms Mendes, police said.

He will appear at Staines Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Officers also announced that the matter has been referred to the police watchdog, the Independent Office of Police Conduct.

Ms Mendes was described as a “caring mother” with a “wonderful heart” by friends and family.

An online fundraiser pledging to support Ms Mendes’s children and repatriate her body to Brazil had nearly hit its £40,000 target on Sunday evening.
